sold!

this afternoon, i took another streetcar ride to queen east to view a sideboard i have been eyeing online at zig zag. the dimensions were perfect, and it was in really good shape. style-wise, it's exactly what i've been looking for. the woodstain was just a tad lighter than i would've liked, especially since i have so much dark wood already. but when have i ever been one to match? i took a stroll through some other shops before coming back to look at it again. nothing came close to being as nice.

well, can you guess what i did. i pulled out my credit card and now i own a sideboard. solid teak, made either in the 50s or 60s. finally, i can start hanging some art. the walls have been bare for far too long!

Very nice indeed. Is it door, drawers, door, door? Does the top open or no? Tons of room by the looks of it...

Thanks, I quite like it.

Let me explain the mechanics of this lovely vintage piece.

The first door pulls open to the left. Then the drawers, they... you know, slide out. The next door is hinged from the bottom, and pulls down. And the door on the right pulls open to the right. Those last two doors open into the same compartment which is meant for storing your booze and glassware. Come on over and I'll mix you a cocktail :)
