putting a face to your food

a few years ago when i lived in the liberties with nancy, there was a day when we noticed we had a mutant mushroom (siamese) with two heads and two stems joined. that same day, we noticed there was a gerber daisy with two heads and a stem.

i bought some carrots from the dominion and was peeling them yesterday morning, when i noticed this mutant carrot which to my shock had pretty much what seemed like a full face. it was kind of scary, i almost expected it to start talking to me. it clearly has two eyes, a nose, sort of a mouth, and also seems to be a serpent like tongue protruding from the side of its mouth. when you find produce like this, you of course have to take a picture, but i couldn't wait to put it out of its misery. i peeled the eyeballs and the rest of the face until they were just bumps. really freaky. what are they using to fertilize crops these days? sheesh.
