in rainbows in the rain

the worst possible night for us to have rain, thunder and lightening was friday night, when we were sitting on the lawn at molson ampitheatre. we sat on garbage bags and sealed ourselves in our plastic ponchos. it started out alright, but when the rain really started to come down and drip down the hill, i felt one side of my butt start to soak. we saw lightening strike the c.n. tower and you could totally hear when the cloud with the thunder and lightening passed directly over our heads.
we ducked into nancy's bar a couple of times to get out of the rain, and also to see scotty who was there with his friend drew. the rain finally stopped for good part way into radiohead's set. that's when craig got a text message from howsley (ryan). he went down to nancy's bar to meet him. (ryan is operations manager for the promoter). a few minutes later, craig called me and asked if wanted wristbands to get down to the vip area, front stage!!!! derek, his friend vince, susan, scott and i ran down to see them. ryan left and soon returned with our wristbands and we raced down and watched the rest of the show. thom yorke went from being the size of my knuckle to super close. it was totally, awesomely amazing, one of the best concert experiences i've ever had, and i've been to many shows. *sigh* (the picture above was taken by craig on his iphone)
the night ended nicely with two dozen tiny tom donuts (shared of course), a bit of guitar hero.i headed back to the cne the next day with my parents. this year i received free passes from my former co-worker alice for warrior's day. my dad always looks forward to getting fish & chips at the food building, as if it was the only place in the world where you could get fish & chips. he HAS to have it there every year. nevermind that i am a five minute walk from chippy's. their favourite part are the buildings where all the different vendors have set up. they totally get reeled in. mom bought the "chamWOW", a $1 backscratcher for my dad, a travel steam iron. dad bought a pressure washer attachment. it's fun to see them enjoying themselves. the other thing they LOVE to do is find a patch of grass at the ontario place waterfront and nap. i just knew it was on the agenda. (here they are from last year!) nancy came and met us before her she had to work. after we watched the superdog show, we walked back to my place for dinner. it was a relaxing day.
summer is drawing to an end, but i'm looking forward to the change in seasons. here's hoping for sunshine, cool breezes and no more rain!
