second time sick for 2009
i'm sitting deleriously for the second night in a row on my couch between sweat and chills. after a bad new year's hangover, i got sick in the first full week back at work with a cold. as soon as i recovered from that, i started to feel sluggish and sleepy at work yesterday. this morning i pulled on my long johns, warm down coat, and slowly walked to work to pick up my laptop. on the way back, i made a pitstop at the metro and picked up advil and orange juice. i was home, in my pyjamas and online to work by 10:15. i am crazy for working, but am paranoid when it comes to work. we had a lot of work to get done today and i wanted to make sure i helped get the work done.
my parents are awesome, both very concerned of course. i called my mom yesterday and she told me to slather on chinese ointments. of course i don't keep any here, the stink!! but if i was home, i would let her put the ointments on. i'm such a baby when i get sick. when my dad finished work at 11, he called me too!
"sharon, mom said you're sick?" hehehe.
now i have to share a funny story from christmas eve when we did our gift exchange. i will preface this with a story from many chinese new year's ago, when my dad collected some red envelopes for me. he wrote my name on them to make sure they would get to me. except my own dad can't spell my name and it came out as "shorn". craig now likes to call me shorn for fun.
this year, my dad got jane's name for his secret santa. my parents always need help with their gifts, so i went out and purchased jane's gift for him. a few days before christmas, my parents stopped in to pick up some of the packages i didn't want to carry on the train. i had just finished wrapping jane's gift and handed him a tag, asking him to fill it out. after that, i taped the tag onto the gift and off they carried it to b-ville.
on christmas eve, we decided to go up one at a time and give our gifts to our secret santa recipients. he needed help recognizing the package, but once he did, he carried the gift over to jane. jane took one look and started laughing. the tag said:
